Lambda probe Piaggio Porter
It is a sensor which sends the information relating to the quantity of oxygen present in the exhaust gases introduced into the catalyst to the engine management electronic control unit.
Using this probe , the engine control unit can maintain an optimal air-fuel mixture composition. The sensor supplies a voltage signal which varies considerably when it is hit by the strictly stoichiometric composition exhaust gas flow.
The catalyst is equipped with two probes (at the inlet and outlet of the exhaust gases) to check the efficiency of the catalyst itself. any defects/anomalies of the lambda probes lead to engine operating irregularities, significant increases in fuel consumption and polluting emissions outside the permitted limits.
The functional checks on the component must be carried out with a specific diagnostic tool connected to the EOBD connector.
The lambda probes are powered by the main relay. With a tester and key switch inserted, it is possible to check the presence of voltage at the terminals of the connector (wiring harness side) at pins 1 and 2.
