Piaggio Porter water temperature sensor.
Functions:
The engine water temperature sensor detects the temperature of the engine coolant and controls the operation of the radiator electric fan.
This sensor is a double circuit resistive sensor, not powered, capable of supplying two characteristic curves, (Curve1) for the engine control unit; and the (Curve2) for the instrument cluster.
How to check if the sensor works ?
Disconnect the system connector from the sensor and use a tester to check the presence of battery voltage (about 12.5V).
Check the sensor mounted on the ground on the engine water pipe, with a tester on pin (1) engine water temperature sensor signal) and pin (3) Negative, check that the measured values correspond to those of (Curve1) for the engine control unit.

With sensor earthed on the engine coolant duct, tester on pin (2) engine water temperature sensor signal to instrument panel , and sensor body (earth): check that the values read correspond to those of (Curve 2), for the instrument unit.
With tester on Pin 2 and Ground (on the sensor body) = read the values of Curve No. 2.
